Product Description

MULTIROOM MUSIC WITH MOXIVO

Moxivo is a multiroom music system that lets you play music over your phone lines. Plug a music source (iPod, phone, tablet, computer, laptop) into a phone jack with a Moxivo cable. Plug music players (stereo system, self-powered speakers, TV) into other phone jacks using Moxivo cables. Enjoy!

HOW DOES MOXIVO WORK?

Using Moxivo is just like plugging an music player into a stereo, but you’re using your phone lines as an extension cord to take your multiroom music system everywhere there’s a phone jack.

CAN MOXIVO BE REMOTE CONTROLLED?

Yes! Use apps like “remote” for Spotify, “Universal Remote” for Pandora, or “Retune” for iTunes to communicate with your music source from a mobile device and control your multiroom music system from any room.

CAN I USE THE SPEAKERS I ALREADY HAVE?

Moxivo is designed to work with the self powered speakers you already have, giving you quality multiroom music at the lowest possible price.

CAN I STILL USE MY LAND LINE TELEPHONE?

Moxivo can’t be used in conjunction with other devices that use the phone line like dial up or DSL internet, fax machines, phone line intercoms, etc. We recommend disconnecting from the phone utility before using the Moxivo multiroom music system.

WHY DO I HAVE TO DISCONNECT MY PHONE LINE FROM THE UTILITY?

Physically disconnecting your phone lines from the utility is the best way to ensure that signals from the phone utility don’t interfere with your multiroom music or damage your equipment.

IS MOXIVO EASY TO INSTALL?

Definitely. Use one Moxivo cable to plug a music source into a phone jack. Use another Moxivo cable to plug a stereo or speaker into another phone jack. Job’s done!

WHY DOES THE AUDIO SOURCE NEED TO BE PLAYED AT MAX VOLUME?

Play your music source at max volume and control sound levels at the individual stereos in each room. This minimizes the amount of amplification your receivers have to perform and prevents “white noise” on the multiroom music system.

First, this is a unique product all techies have wanted and thought of but haven’t seen till now.
The cable is very well constructed with high quality end connectors and many connection options.
The sound quality is not audiophile grade but for its intended purpose it functions well. Quite high quality audio transmission can be achieved with newer homes or homes upgraded with cat5, 5e, and cat 6 in wall wiring. My tests were with cat6 and also with standard in wall telephone wiring pre 2005. Both worked, both were compatible regardless of RJ-45 data 8 pin and audio 4 pin connection.
Best results I noticed were obtained with the addition of a ferrite block on each end, input and output, to reduce emi. This is most noticed with longer cable runs.
The achilles’ heel with this set up is not the product itself but the internal wiring of the residence within the wall.
There are things that can help with slightly lower quality internal wiring like playing high resolution audio file from an iPhone iPod or other output device of course at the highest line level output volume. For the most part you get out what you put in so higher-quality in higher-quality audio out.
I was also able to achieve relatively good result in shorter distance run of under 80 feet or so transmitting coaxial digital audio. With error correction there were few drop outs of the audio and the ferrite rings were crucial.

With too much time on my hands I was also able to send 480i resolution video throughout the building via rca yellow video adapter from my security system video to multiple monitors an additional rooms. This opened up a few new possibility for this product that were quite interesting. I was also able to send cable-television frequency throughout my house with a few clever adapters. Without amplification long-distance video transmission was not favorable but with lower resolution like my security system the product functioned well.

For its intended purpose audio or intercom I like this product and if you’re not looking for audiophile audio transmission like every day listening radio for iPod iPhone audio this product exactly the right solution when wireless transmission is not available.

This cable system was fun and functional. With a little thought you can do a lot more than just audio.

I like this and I would recommend it.

Thank you for allowing me to review this, it was fun and is easy to use, straightforward, very well made, and works exactly as advertised.
